Learning through Play

In PreK a lot of our learning happens through play. Three, four and five year olds learn best when they do hands on activities and interact with each other. So much can be learned as they are playing- colors, shapes, counting, letter names and sounds. But they also learn how to put things together, how things work, how to write/draw/color. They are also learning social skills- taking turns, sharing, asking for things, cleaning up. working together, playing kindly. Play is an important part of a child's life, especially at this age. We love being a part of their learning through play each day!

Math session today

This week in math, the PK students are learning about Tall/Big and Short/little. We set up different activities to learn the difference between tall and short. One of the activities was measuring how tall the students are? and then compare and use the words: tall and short. Today we went for a walk in the school and looked for tall objects and small objects. The students enjoyed it a lot. Please enjoy these pictures:

Being Researchers!

Our new science unit in PreK is "Same but Different"! We are learning how we are the same but how we are also different. To help us find out how we are the same and different, we have to be researchers! To be a researcher it means to look around to find information. Today we made researcher hats with eyes on them that we will wear when we are researching how we are the same and how we are different. What great inquirers we have!
