Making Rivers, Ponds and Waterfalls

Last week for our water unit during science, we made waterfalls, rivers and ponds using sand, and water. The students formed the sand to fit the right body of water. Then they carefully poured in water to make the river, pond or waterfall. On Thursday, they added animals to the bodies of water that either need water to breathe or need water to live for drinking. It was wonderful to watch them explore with water!

We had a great science exhibition yesterday. The PK students were so proud of their work. We were impressed with the variety of toys and things that work made by the elementary students. Great researchers and thinkers. Well done!!! Here are some pictures of the exhibition:

Making Toys!

In our inquiry unit, we are have been learning what materials toys are made of and how toys work. As we are finishing our unit, we are now making our own toys using recyclable materials from plastic, wood, fabric and metal. The students are enjoying to make their own toys!

Water Walk!

This week we started our new inquiry unit called "Water Wonders". We are exploring where we can find water, how we use water, different bodies of water, creatures who use water and why we need water to live.

On Wednesday, we took a water walk around the school to find different types of water. We found a lot of different sources of water throughout our school! We could not believe all the different places where we use water or where water goes.

Here we found a drain where the water goes when it rains

We found a tub of water by the maintenance area

Here is a big pipe for water to flow down when it rains

And the fire hose to put any fires out

Look! We also found a water filter on top of the water fountain!

Oh the different sources of water we found! :) What a wonderful Water Walk!
